Why did Jesus tell these stories?

Jesus wants me to know what God is like!

Memory Verse:

“The Son wants to tell others about the Father.”  Luke 10:22

Bible Story Focus:

Jesus wants me to know how much God cares for me.  The Parable of the Prodigal Son.  Luke 15.  We learned that the father after seeing his Son’s return was so filled with love for him, that he threw him a big party.  God is like that father.  Everytime God hears us say we love Him or every time we ask for forgivness for bad choices, He throws a party!

STAND! in the Word (10:10 a.m.)

BIG CITY STUDIOS (11:00 a.m.)

Jesus Clears the Temple:  Jesus loves his church so much that He hated to see what it had become.  At that point, it had turned into more like a Wal-Mart than a church.  Jesus cleaned house and foretold the future.  He told the Jews that temple would be destroyed but restored in 3 days.  The Jews had no idea what He was talking about!  He was referring to the death of His body and returning to life in 3 days!

Knot of the Week: Jesus is NOT weak or afraid.

Reel Time:  Jesus is always REAL confident.

Today we learned of Jesus’ first miracle.  He is concerned about EVERY detail of our life, whether big or small.

Jesus and the Wedding:  Jesus performed his first miracle at a wedding in Cana.  He turned the water into wine!

Knot of the Week: Jesus is NOT afraid to be in my life!

Reel Time:  God is a REAL part of my daily life.

Jesus and the Small Things:  Jesus takes an interest in the small things in your life.

Knot of the Week: Jesus is NOT too busy for me.

Reel Time:  Jesus takes a REAL interest in me.

Our Bible story was John 1:34-51, the story of Philip and Nanthaniel first meeting Jesus.  Jesus tells Nathaniel before he even meets him that he is a man of honor.   He also stated that he had seen Nate under the fig tree before Philip even told Nate about Jesus.  Nate was amazed at all the details of his life that Jesus knew.  The probable reason that Jesus told Nathaniel about seeing him under the fig tree was to illustrate His ability and interest in seemingly unsignificant aspects of everyday life.  Jesus is interested in every detail of our lives!!
