Veggie Tales Drive In – This Saturday!

Monday, October 13th, 2008   Events

Don’t forget to come this Saturday, October 18 to our Veggie Tales Drive-In. What is it, you ask?  I will gladly tell you!  We will be watching the new full length feature movie, The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything, starting at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.  We are asking each child to build a car, not a Chrysler, the cardboard kind.  Or if you prefer, you could use a wagon, skateboard, anything!  Just be creative!!!  Each child must be accompanied by an adult for the entire time so this will truly be a family affair!  There will be popcorn, drinks, games, a whole lotta fun!  You can also dress in your best pirate gear if you so choose!  Make sure you register by emailing Miss Melanie at melanie@ameliachurchofchrist.com.  Just let her know the total number attending.  We sure can’t wait!  See ya on Saturday!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008   What We Learned

Here is what we learned on October 12, 2008:

SAFARI PARK JUNGLE

KEY QUESTION:

Who made the world?

God made the world.

KEY MEMORY VERSE:

“God created the heavens and the earth.”  Gen 1:1

BIBLE STORY FOCUS:

God made the sky and water.  Day 2 of creation.

STAND! in the Word (10:10 a.m.)

Today we started a new series, SuperHeroes of the Bible.  We learned that Superheroes don’t give up.  Noah is the guy from the Bible that helped us see that God wants us to try our hardest, do our best  and not give up-even when it is a difficult task.

BIG CITY STUDIOS (11:00 a.m.)

We continued with studying The Big  God Theory and we focused on Genesis 1:11-13 today.  We learned that if we plant good seeds, we’ll get good stuff.  Everything reproduces after its own kind.  If you plant an apple seed, you can’t expect to get a watermelon!  That’s the law of the harvest.  It works in nature and it works spiritually.

BIBLE STORY:

Genesis 27 and 29, The Tricky Twin. We learned that there were 2 brothers, Jacob and Esau.  Jacob tricked Esau out of his blessing.  Later on we learned that Jacob got tricked marrying a different sister than the one he wanted.  Jacob tricked others and now others were tricking him.  He reaped what he sowed.

KNOT OF THE WEEK:

Bad seeds do NOT make good fruit.

REEL TIME:

What I sow in my life is REAL important!

Today we had an XL-cellent celebration!  We have completed our 40 day spiritual growth study and it was definitely something to celebrate.  You were so awesome and dedicated!  There were several of you that memorized all 40 days of memory verses!  God promises that His word will not return to Him void.  Those verses are a great foundation to build on!

I want to encourage you to keep up studying God’s word everyday.  There are several resources available.  I will post them for you.

Again, AWESOME job, KIDZONERS!!

BIG CITY STUDIOS (11:00)

Today we learned from Genesis 1:6-10. We learned that God put water in 2 places, above us and below us. The firmament (sky) was created to divide the water.  Just looking at the sky reminds us that God creates some really cool stuff!

BIBLE STORY:

1 Kings 18:41-46, The Growing Cloud. Each week, the kids get to “act out” the Bible story.  It is all ad-lib so we never know what we are going to get.  It’s great fun!  Ask your kids about it!

KNOT OF THE WEEK:

God does NOT have trouble doing cool stuff!

REEL TIME:

The sky is a REAL cool creation!
